After a very successful summer of funding within the pet tech and general pet care industries, the momentum has continued into a very strong beginning of autumn. Listed chronologically in terms of funding date, take a look through the broad array of pet-related ventures that saw considerable financial boosts.

Name: Booster Pet
Sector: Veterinary services
Raise: USD 2.3M

This US-based provider of veterinary services through telemedicine and in-person clinics closed a USD 2.3M round from an undisclosed source. Impressive, considering the company was only founded in 2020.

Name: Wild Earth

Raise: USD 23M

Leading plant-based dog food producer Wild Earth, founded by vegan investor Ryan Bethencourt secured a USD 23M round featuring investors such as At One Ventures, Veginvest, Big Idea Ventures as well as, Mark Cuban, who also acts as business mentor to the company. This brings their total money raised to USD 39.2M to go towards developing beef, chicken, and seafood cell-based meats using its proprietary technology.

Raise: USD 37M

PetMedix, a UK-based research group focusing on species-specific therapeutic antibodies, has closed an oversubscribed series B financing round of USD 37M to advance its innovative pipeline through clinical development. This round bring new investors, Tencent and J Kyoritsu Holdings alongside continued support Digitalis Ventures, Parkwalk Advisors and Cambridge Innovation Capital.

The Nebraska-based personalised pet wellness subscription provider, PetFriendly have closed their seed round of USD 6M led by an affiliate of McCarthy Capital, with participation from Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, Emil Capital Partners and Invest Nebraska. They plan to scale their operations and grow their team.

Raise: USD 780K

India-based pet e-commerce platform has raised USD 780K in a venture debt round led by venture debt fund, Alteria Capital, just months after their 2.6M round pre-series A round. The team is made up of entrepreneurs and veterinarians, and their focus is on building a one-stop solution, consisting of e-commerce and veterinary services.

Los Angeles-based dog daycare startup Dogdrop has raised USD 2.9M in a funding round, to expand their locations and markets, led by Fuel Capital, plus Mars PetCare, Muse Capital, Animal Capital, Gaingels and The Helm.

Sector: Dog health
Raise: USD 27M

Loyal, a startup involved in the research of improving dogs’ health and lifespans and developing related therapeutics raised their series A funding with a round of USD 27M. It was led by Khosla Ventures and included First Round Capital, Box Group, Collaborative Fund, The Longevity Fund and Lachy Groom, all all of whom were involved in Loyal’s USD 11M seed round raised in 2020

Raise: USD 2.9M

Swedish pet insurance startup Lassie just closed a USD 2.9M seed round led by Wolt-investor Inventure with participation from Passion. Taking a more interactive approach to pet insurance, Lassie gives customers money off their premiums when they engage with their educational material.

Raise: USD 8M

Alpha Paw raised USD 8M in their Series A funding round led by Nordic Eye to continue growing their pet food and wellness e-commerce business. They specialise in breed-specific supplements and nutrition-focused products and made over USD 20M in sales last year.

Raise: USD 170M

The New York-based veterinary care clinic, Bond Vet raised a whopping USD 170M from Warburg Pincus, a leading global growth investor. The funding will be used to expand their operations and invest in equipment, training, culture and technology to further improve the clinical experience for veterinarians, pets and pet parents alike.

Raise: USD 10M

UK pet sitting platform, Trusted Housesitters, closed their series A round of USD 10M to help accelerate their expansion into the USA. Founded in 2010, TrustedHousesitters has now facilitated more than four million nights of pet sitting across 130 countries.

Raise: USD 14.5M

Belgian customised dog food subscription service raised USD 14.5M in their series A round, led by Naxicap Partners, Impact Group and Dupont Restauration. They plan to expand across the region.

Name: Wiggles
Sector: Pet Care
Raise: USD 5.5M

The india-based one-stop-shop for pet care needs has raised a USD 5.5M funding round led by Anthill Ventures, along with participation from Panthera Peak Ventures. This money will allow them to expand into new verticals and regions.
