Whether we wanted one or not, in 2020 we were all given a break from physical tech fairs and networking events. This year is looking a little different; while many have gone fully virtual, we’re seeing quite a lot of hybrid shows offering both in-person events (with necessary COVID-restrictions, of course) as well as online, allowing people from anywhere in the world to tune in on masterclasses or break away into digital chat rooms. Across Asia we’re spoiled for choice with a packed events calendar, but here are some of our favourites that have confirmed dates planned for 2021:

PDC 2021

Tech in Asia’s signature Product Development Conference will take place on 7th-8th April 2021 and expects to attract over 3,000 product professionals. GIDS 2021 and WURRCK

Events powerhouse Wurreka will be hosting GIDS (Great International Developer Summit) and the ‘Wurrck’ job event series virtually on April 27-30. The four-day program will include an eclectic mix of technical talks, conversations and experiences, featuring some of the most talented and influential figures in software engineering, from IBM and Microsoft to name a few, as well as subject experts such as Chuck Easttom. GIDS Live 2021 will stream to audiences in Asia-Pacific (India, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia).

The job-hunting portion allows attendees to meet and speak with participating companies, learn about their tech stacks, culture and opportunities. Singapore TechHR Conference

With everything disrupted, considering going back to the old ways of working is not at all a winning strategy. Manila AI & Blockchain Summit

Expanding out from its home turf in Malta, the AIBC summit will host its inaugural conference in Manila on the 27th-28th May, bringing together East and West as key brands from the converging sectors of AI, blockchain, IoT, Quantum Tech, and other emerging technologies gather to join the conversation and shape the future.

Combining an expo floor for world-class exhibitors, a start-up village for new businesses, and a hugely popular conferences and workshops agenda, the Manila AIBC Summit will run alongside the SiGMA Manila event, creating more opportunities for synergy between the complementary sectors of iGaming and Blockchain.

Although speakers and events haven’t yet been announced, the 2019 edition in Malta featured a star-studded lineup including a performance from Akon. This is pretty appropriate considering he has a cryptocurrency named after him called Akoin, which is powered by a blockchain-based eco-system of tools and services designed for entrepreneurs in Africa!

SiGMA Asia has partnered with AIBC, combining the gaming and emerging tech industries under one roof. Expect a buzzy expo floor with land-based gaming, online gaming, and emerging tech exhibitors, a cutting-edge conference with a line-up of speakers made up of final decision-makers and a plethora of networking events to facilitate business amongst the delegates. As part of a special focus, there will be a portion of the event called “SiGMA Deep Tech: By techies, for techies” with an agenda shining a spotlight on expert tech leaders, CTOs and developers - with topics such as AI, Big Data, UI, open-source vs licensed tech and much more.

TOKEN2049

TOKEN2049 is the premier crypto event in Asia, organised annually in Hong Kong, where founders and C-level executives of the leading crypto and blockchain companies share their view on the market. Talks are based around global developments while providing a unique and widening perspective on the ecosystem and its vast opportunities.

The event, which as of yet doesn’t have a confirmed date, promises a coming together of the global crypto industry, uniting entrepreneurs, investors, developers, industry enthusiasts and global media in Hong Kong.

Asia Tech x Singapore

Asia Tech x Singapore (ATxSG) is one of Asia’s flagship tech events. It provides a platform for the international tech and enterprise communities to congregate for conversations and networking that set the agenda for key tech trends, governance and innovation impacting businesses and society in the region.

The event taking place over the 13th-16th July is actually eight conferences merged together, uniting the best of Asia’s technology, Infocomm and media ecosystems: ATx Summit, Telecoms & Tech Academy, BroadcastAsia, CommunicAsia, Elevating Founders Asia, Satellite Asia, TechXLR8R Asia and acceleratHER Asia.

Although the main event takes place at Singapore EXPO, many events will take place online; think webinar, virtual roundtable, hybrid event packages and more.

EduTech Asia

This is Asia’s largest conference and exhibition for educators and edtech providers and will begin first with an online show running from the 26th October to 25th November culminating in an in-person fair taking place 9th-11th November at Sands Expo in Singapore.

The 2020 pandemic has accelerated technology adoption across Asia, and educators and education establishments across the region are actively purchasing technology solutions to enable remote learning, improve communication and accelerate learning. But each market across Asia is different. Each country faces unique challenges and is at a different stage of development, so it is an ideal time for educators across the region to come together to share ideas and to innovate.

Over the two days, there will be 300 speakers and 150 exhibitors, plus the chance to network and do business with over 5,000 physical attendees. The 2021 EDUtech Asia will also take place during this time, and aims to celebrate individuals and organisations who are transforming education in Asia.
